In 1965, Bob Crane, who had achieved some earlier success as a television supporting actor, was working as a successful morning radio DJ at KNX Los Angeles. Despite enjoying his work, photography (especially of the female form) and drumming, Crane wanted to be a movie star. So it was with some reluctance that he accepted the title starring role in a new television sitcom called...。古老的北京城，中年男子孙子旺（梁冠华 饰）和妻子杨喜莲（杨瑞霞 饰）过着平凡的生活。一封当年插队恋人秀儿的来信，将孙子旺夫妇本就危机重重的婚姻彻底摧毁。原来信中秀儿提及曾生养一对龙凤双胞胎，因无力抚养和社会的压力而将孩子送人。肩负秀儿的嘱托，孙踏上了寻找孩子的旅途，几经辗转却得知孩子们早就被人领养送到了美国。 孙在美国找到插队时的好友张大年（王伯昭 饰），可是张似乎对其寻子之事并不热忱。一番辛苦过后，孙终于找到分别过这不同生活的两个孩子福兰克（王骁 饰）和安琪拉（安雅 饰）。他的到来，似乎又让这两个过早经历太多人世艰辛的孩子体味到更多的痛苦……。
