讲述了毒品调查科行动组高级督察向荣嫉恶如仇，与情报组高级督察韦世乐亦师亦友，合作无间，为警队屡破毒案。在一次缉毒行动中，世乐发现蛛丝马迹，向荣极有可能是勾结毒犯的神秘黑警。世乐开始暗中调查向荣，加上心术不正的行动组总督察潘学礼从中挑拨，多年兄弟连番角力，矛盾重重的故事。。酷爱冲浪的高子杰（陈展鹏 饰）定居台湾经营民宿，突然被一群杀手施袭，子杰获身手敏捷的背包客阮清欣（胡定欣 饰）相救，但养娘微姨（鲍起静 饰）当场死亡，子杰为寻真相独自回港，经好友戴华冠（梁烈唯饰）穿针引线，发现养娘之死与令熊（鲍起静 饰）有关，令熊掌管一个庞大的势力集团，配合其他有权有势的豪强，在幕后操控整个社会。成就大恶的她，恐怕祸延家人，不惜牺牲自我，放弃了亲生骨肉子杰，及后又收养了孤儿令千佑（陈山聪 饰）作为心灵替代品。两端亲情因而纠结出一个血泪的故事。家族成员勾心斗角，不甘成为附庸的韦磊（郭锋 饰）勾结外来势力密谋作反，女儿韦以柔（姚子羚 饰）因为背负原罪，感情路上荆棘满途…… 令熊尝试转身，为后人找回公义和安定；清欣试图助她脱离混乱的利益世界，却发现她并非能够主宰一切，幕后另有其人…… 子杰的出现，令各人关系起了翻天覆地的变化，所有与令熊有密切利益关系的财团亦伺机而动，令熊的性命危在旦夕，清欣与子杰虽联手逐一还击，却引发另一波关乎著整个社会安危的杀戮……。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
