上世纪七十年代末南方某偏远小镇，孩子们放学后滚铁环、打水仗、枪战，大街小巷四处是他们欢快的身影。而五年级学生小庆沉迷于他喜欢的相片洗印之中。国庆前夕，他突发奇想，决定做一张全班同学站在天安门前的合影照片。他用自制的放像机进行了无数次尝试，结果以失败告终。非常着急的他偶然发现镇里一位整天以酒为伴的老人会照相，于是他和同伴们想方设法接近老人。两代人从相互对抗到相互了解，终于在天安门的情节点上产生了共鸣。老人用一种特殊方法，完成了孩子们的心愿。当孩子们抬着站在天安门前的巨幅照片奔跑在大街小巷时，小镇沸腾了......。The subtitle of Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet’s first feature, from 1965, “Only Violence Helps Where Violence Reigns,” suggests the fierce political program evoked by their rigorous aesthetic. The pretext of the film, set in Cologne, is Heinrich Böll’s novel “Billiards at Half Past Nine,” which they strip down to a handful of stark events and film with a confrontational angularity akin to Bartók’s music that adorns the soundtrack. The subtlest of cues accompany the story’s complex flashbacks. The middle-aged Robert Fähmel tells a young hotel bellhop of persecutions under the Third Reich| his elderly father, Heinrich, an architect famed for a local abbey, recalls the militarism of the First World War, when his wife, Johanna, incurred trouble for insulting the Kaiser. A third-generation Fähmel is considering architecture, just as the exiled brother of Robert’s late wife, returns, only to be met by their former torturer, now a West German official taking part in a celebratory parade of war veterans. Straub and Huillet make the layers of history live in the present tense, which they judge severely. The tamped-down acting and the spare, tense visual rhetoric suggest a state of moral crisis as well as the response—as much in style as in substance—that it demands.。
